THE PERFORMANCE
During the performance each dancer will choose a constellation that is currently in the sky to inspire their movements. They will use the story of the constellation, the shape of it, and perhaps the number of stars it contains to create choreography.
THE MASTER CLASS
Following the performance, adults and children are invited to participate in a Master Class – experiencing how dancers use conceptual tasks and ideas to generate movement for choreography. The class does not require any training in dance but will be a creative exploration, using ideas to generate gestures and movement.
Breaking into small groups, the dancers will lead a short warm-up exercise. Then each group will be given a constellation as the concept for a task that will create movement.
The result can be gestures large or small. For instance, blinking the eyes or flicking the fingers can be the movement created.
In the end, if people want to share, there will be a time to watch what each group has created. We encourage you to have fun!
