FISHHOOK CACTUS
Mammilaria tetrancistra
This cactus is found in extremely dry areas of the desert. It can have 1 to 4 central hooked spines and up to 64 white spines per aereole. They have remarkably large, pink flowers up to 2 inches in diameter. The red, spineless fruits are eaten by birds and mammals.
