Sphaeralcea spinosa
This spiny, almost leafless, gray-green shrub is confined to sandy washes and is dependent on summer cloudbursts as well as winter rain for water. It is found below 2800 and blooms in June with bluish-violet flowers followed by fruit with orange glands.
