Palo verde is a tree with green bark.  It is common in the low desert and is very plentiful on the southeast end of JTNP.  Parkinsonia florida is usually found in desert washes below 2,000 feet.  It is often accompanied by smoke trees and ironwood.

The tree is completely covered with bright yellow flowers in late spring.
